Before thinking about complicated strategies, it helps to know where you stand. The fastest way is to ask AI itself. Open ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, fire the same questions at all three and compare. The differences between them already say a lot.

Here are twenty prompts sorted by type. Replace what is in brackets with your brand, your category and your competitors.

Questions about your brand

Start with the most direct, what AI knows about you.

  1. What is [your brand] and what does it do.
  2. What do customers think of [your brand].
  3. What are the strengths and weaknesses of [your brand].
  4. Is [your brand] reliable for [your service].
  5. What does [your brand] cost and what does it include.

Category questions

Here you check whether you appear when someone does not know you yet and is looking for a solution.

  1. What are the best tools in [your category].
  2. Which company do you recommend for [problem you solve].
  3. Give me five options in [your category] in Spain.
  4. What is the most recommended option in [your category] for [type of customer].
  5. Which [your category] provider has the best value for money.

Comparison questions

These reveal how AI places you against whoever competes with you.

  1. Compare [your brand] with [competitor].
  2. Which is better, [your brand] or [competitor], and why.
  3. Which to choose between [your brand], [competitor 1] and [competitor 2].
  4. What are the alternatives to [competitor].
  5. Why would someone choose [your brand] over [competitor].

Problem questions

Here you act as a customer who does not even know the brands, just has a need.

  1. I need [the result you want]. Where do I start.
  2. How do I solve [a concrete problem] without overcomplicating it.
  3. What should I keep in mind when hiring [your type of service].
  4. What is the cheapest way to achieve [the customer's goal].
  5. Recommend me a solution for [a typical situation of your customer].

How to read the answers

  • Whether you appear, and where in the list.
  • The tone used about you, neutral, positive or with caveats.
  • Which competitors you are named alongside.
  • Whether the facts about you are correct or out of date.

What to do with what you find

Repeat the exercise across the three assistants and take notes. You will see they do not match, each has its sources and its criteria. If you appear in none for your category, you have content and reputation work ahead. If you show up but with old data, it is time to fix public information.

Doing this audit once is revealing. Doing it every month is what shows whether you improve.

The catch with doing it by hand is consistency, answers change daily and an occasional check falls short. That is why tools like Bee LLM exist, firing this kind of question in Spanish every day and alerting you when your position shifts. But the first diagnosis you can do yourself, today, with this list.
