Track your brand in Perplexity

Perplexity shows where every claim comes from. That makes it the easiest engine to work on, because it hands you the exact list of pages you need to win. We ask it your questions every day.

What is going on, in plain words

Perplexity does not have the most users, but it carries real weight in buying decisions, because people use it precisely to compare before spending money. And unlike the others, it puts its sources in plain sight under every answer.

That is a big advantage for you. On other engines you have to work out where the information came from. Here it is listed. The pages under an answer are, quite literally, the list of places you need to appear on.

If your name is in that answer, you get the customer. If it is not, you never find out: there is no list of results to check your position in and usually no click either, so nothing shows up in your website statistics.

It is the steadiest engine of the lot

Every AI engine changes its mind between one query and the next, but not equally. Researchers repeated the same questions many times over and compared which pages each engine used on each run.

Perplexity was the steadiest of the three studied: it repeats about five out of every ten pages. Gemini was the shakiest at three out of ten. That is still a lot of movement, but it means that once you are in Perplexity's sources you tend to stay there longer, and that a change in your numbers is more trustworthy than on other engines.

It is where a smaller brand has the most room

There is one measurement almost nobody looks at and which matters a lot to you: how spread out the citations are. On some engines a handful of huge domains take nearly everything; on others the spread is wider.

A study that measured this over 45 days found Perplexity is the least concentrated engine of the lot: it spreads citations across more different websites than ChatGPT, Gemini or AI Mode. In plain terms, it is where a brand that is not the biggest in its sector has the best real chance of getting in.

How we measure it

We ask your 10 questions to Perplexity continuously and store every answer whole: whether it names you, where, in what tone, next to which competitors, which pages it read to build the answer and what it searched for first. You read the month, not the day.

The full method, with the research behind why it is measured this way and what can actually be changed, is in how we measure whether an AI names your brand. And there is nothing to install on your site.

Questions people ask us

Why does it have to be measured every day?

Because these engines do not answer the same thing twice: only three to five out of every ten pages they use repeat from one query to the next. A single answer tells you almost nothing; how many days out of thirty you came up does. It is set out with the data in how we measure.

Can I try it for free?

Yes. The free plan asks your questions to ChatGPT every day at no cost and with no card, so you can see how it works. The other engines come with the paid plans.

Why does Perplexity show its sources when others do not?

Because its whole product is built around that: it searches the web, summarises what it finds and links every claim. It is a design decision, not an obligation. It works in your favour: you can check exactly which pages are keeping you out.

Is it worth tracking if my audience barely uses Perplexity?

Usually yes, for what it teaches you rather than its size. The pages Perplexity cites for your sector look a lot like the ones the other engines use internally, so it works as a map even if your customers never open it.

Find out your own numbers, not the industry average

We ask your questions to Perplexity and the other assistants and keep the history, so you can see how many days you came up and who came up instead of you. Free plan, no card needed. Full detail on the pricing page.
