Gemini comes preinstalled on Android phones and built into the Google apps everybody already uses. A lot of people use it without ever choosing to. We ask it about your sector every day.

Out of every 100 answers, how many name your brand
Last 30 days, 10 questions asked every day
Gemini's strength is not that people pick it, but that it is already there: on the phone, in search, in the inbox, in the browser. That gives it a reach which does not depend on convincing anyone.
Its audience is not the same as the others either. Gemini users skew notably more technical than average: nearly five times more likely to visit graphic and web design sites, three times more likely for computer security, twice for hardware. If you sell to that kind of customer, more is riding on this engine than it looks.
If your name is in that answer, you get the customer. If it is not, you never find out: there is no list of results to check your position in and usually no click either, so nothing shows up in your website statistics.
Every engine varies between one query and the next, but Gemini varies most. When researchers repeated the same questions, Gemini reused only about three out of every ten pages, against five for Perplexity.
That has one very practical consequence: on Gemini a single screenshot is worth even less than elsewhere. It takes more measurements before a number means anything, which is exactly why we ask every day rather than whenever someone remembers to check.

It is easy to assume that if you do well on Google you will do well on Gemini, since they come from the same company. The data says otherwise.
A study compared 11,500 real queries across Google search, its AI summaries and Gemini, and the sources each one uses barely overlap: between 0.11 and 0.18 out of 1. Most of the pages feeding a Gemini answer are not the ones sitting at the top of Google. That is why it has to be measured separately rather than assumed.
How similar the sources each one uses actually are
1 would mean exactly the same pages; 0, none in common

We ask your 10 questions to Gemini continuously and store every answer whole: whether it names you, where, in what tone, next to which competitors, which pages it read to build the answer and what it searched for first. You read the month, not the day.
The full method, with the research behind why it is measured this way and what can actually be changed, is in how we measure whether an AI names your brand. And there is nothing to install on your site.
Because these engines do not answer the same thing twice: only three to five out of every ten pages they use repeat from one query to the next. A single answer tells you almost nothing; how many days out of thirty you came up does. It is set out with the data in how we measure.
Yes. The free plan asks your questions to ChatGPT every day at no cost and with no card, so you can see how it works. The other engines come with the paid plans.
No. Gemini is the chat app, with its own website and mobile app. AI Overviews appear inside normal search results. They are different products giving different answers, and we measure them separately.
Yes, though less than others. Gemini's audience leans technical, but because it ships with Android all sorts of people end up using it. The sensible move is to measure it and decide from your own numbers rather than a sector average.
We ask your questions to Gemini and the other assistants and keep the history, so you can see how many days you came up and who came up instead of you. Free plan, no card needed. Full detail on the pricing page.
