Track your brand in DeepSeek

DeepSeek is the assistant of choice in markets the American ones do not reach. If you sell outside Europe and the US, or deal with Asian suppliers, there may be conversations about you here that you never see.

What is going on, in plain words

DeepSeek arrived all at once and how much it matters depends heavily on where you look. In the United States it has lost momentum, but across much of Asia and in emerging markets it remains a front-rank option, not least because it is cheap to run.

For a European or American brand that means one concrete thing: if you have customers, distributors or suppliers in those markets, DeepSeek is part of how people look you up there, even if nobody in your office has ever opened it.

If your name is in that answer, you get the customer. If it is not, you never find out: there is no list of results to check your position in and usually no click either, so nothing shows up in your website statistics.

Where it is growing and where it is not

US active user figures show the second half clearly: DeepSeek was one of only two assistants to lose users there over the past year.

That number says less than it appears to, because DeepSeek's real weight sits outside the market that chart measures. The honest reading is that you should not prioritise it if you sell only in Europe or the US, and that you should watch it if your market is elsewhere.

Do not expect traffic, expect influence

As with Copilot, worth adjusting expectations before you start. A study of traffic to online shops from AI assistants found ChatGPT accounts for more than 90% of sessions, and that DeepSeek, along with Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, moves negligible volumes.

With DeepSeek that is sharper still, because its audience sits mostly outside the markets where you measure. If you sell in Asia or work with suppliers there, what you want to know is whether it names you and in what terms, not how many visits it sends. And if your market is purely Western, this engine is informative rather than a priority.

How we measure it

We ask your 10 questions to DeepSeek continuously and store every answer whole: whether it names you, where, in what tone, next to which competitors, which pages it read to build the answer and what it searched for first. You read the month, not the day.

The full method, with the research behind why it is measured this way and what can actually be changed, is in how we measure whether an AI names your brand. And there is nothing to install on your site.

Questions people ask us

Why does it have to be measured every day?

Because these engines do not answer the same thing twice: only three to five out of every ten pages they use repeat from one query to the next. A single answer tells you almost nothing; how many days out of thirty you came up does. It is set out with the data in how we measure.

Can I try it for free?

Yes. The free plan asks your questions to ChatGPT every day at no cost and with no card, so you can see how it works. The other engines come with the paid plans.

Is it worth it if I only sell locally in the West?

Probably not as a priority. If your whole market is Western, your effort pays off more in ChatGPT, Google's AI Overviews and Perplexity. DeepSeek comes with the Pro plan and you can keep it measured in the background, but we would not put it first.

Which plan includes DeepSeek?

From the Pro plan, alongside AI Mode, Qwen and Copilot.

We ask your questions to DeepSeek and the other assistants and keep the history, so you can see how many days you came up and who came up instead of you. Free plan, no card needed. Full detail on the pricing page.
